It is the season to forage! The month when the countryside's living fences are teaming with bright berries and the ancient English pastime of gathering the seasonal jewels of the hedgerow is one of Autumns pleasures. Our friends at Sloemotion continue to follow the tradition, picking sloe's after the first frost to harvest to make Sloe Gin.

We are proud to announce this year, our collaboration with fellow Yorkshire artisan production Sloemotion, to create our award-winning special edition Sloe Gin Fruit Cake won the ⭐️ Great Taste Award Winner 2022

Our small batch seasonally baked Sloe Gin fruit cake, is a true festive Yorkshire collaboration. Combine our family traditional fruit cake recipe with fruit lovingly soaked in Yorkshire Hedgerow Sloe Gin which is foraged and distilled by Sloemotion in Yorkshire and you have a very special fruit cake.

How to eat and enjoy fruit cake...Don't cut a door slab! Perfect enjoyed with a mug of warm mulled wine, or cuppa, paired with Wensleydale cheese or a maybe spread with little butter makes a festive Yorkshire teatime treat.

Here the Judges comments when awarding a ⭐️ at this years Great Taste Award...

"A fruit cake that is packed full of fruit and has a very generous appeal! A really rich, dense and moist texture that is truly pleasing on the eye. A boozy richness on the nose with a clever texture that is bold yet not heavy. The soaked fruit is juicy, succulent and packed full of flavour with a buttery crumb that adds further layers of taste. The hedgerow gin just lifts and cuts through the more intense fruity flavours with its aromatic and vibrant flavour. This cake draws you in, is exceptionally moreish and could be placed in the middle of the table as a crowd pleaser. A hefty wedge of cheddar would be a perfect accompaniment."
